Latin / Common Name Cross Reference
Occasionally plants can have numerous common names. Particularly if they have a long traditional use. Also taxonomy for some plants has changed so there may well have been a change in the scientific name for a plant.
This medicinal plant herb finder table provides an alphabetical cross-reference guide of both common and scientific (Latin*) names for plants included within this site.
In addition any herbal articles including specific herbs are named and indented under the scientific plant name.
*Although often considered the ‘Latin name’ the correct term is ‘scientific name’. Sometimes, the plant scientific name is of Greek origin rather than Latin.
